Wilfred Limonious/Supreme

Wilfred Limonious (1949–99) was a prolific Jamaican illustrator and designer who is now recognized as the father of 'dancehall art'. Born in Albert Town in rural Trelawny Parish, he began his professional career in 1970, illustrating comics for The Star newspaper before going on to work for the island's national literacy program, JAMAL (Jamaican Movement for the Advancement of Literacy) as illustrator of their publications.

His most memorable work was created for the Jamaican music industry during the 1980s and '90s, when he designed hundreds of album jackets and record label logos for the likes of Power House, Studio One, Techniques, Jammy’s, Midnight Rock, Scar Face Music, Dennis Star International, Ujama, Volcano, Taxi and numerous other labels.

This Summer, Supreme has worked with the Limonious Estate and One Love Books on a group of t-shirts featuring original artwork by Wilfred Limonious. The group consists of four graphic T-Shirts and will be available along with four new Summer T-Shirts.

Available in-store NY, LA, London, Paris and online June 29th.
